Salutations! I am excited to be teaching in Temecula Valley Charter School and California for the first time for the 2016-2017 school-year! However, this will be my sixth year teaching secondary social studies. As an undergraduate I majored in history with a concentration in women's history and minored in secondary education. I graduated Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame IN in 2011. Since then I have taught 6th-8th grade social studies in both Indiana and Michigan school districts.
I consider myself to be a student-centered classroom teacher and facilitator that maintains a growth mindset. Each year I dedicate myself to creating an environment that is comfortable and intriguing for all learning styles. I encourage students to to think critically about human history, society, and political/economic systems. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and truly enjoy recognizing how each student bring their own genius to my classroom to make each year new, exciting, and intriguing.
Some of my other passions alongside of teaching are running, yoga, art, reading, travel and healthy living! I ran Cross Country through college and continued my involvement in the sport by coaching both high school and middle school Cross Country and Track and Field athletes.
