Rock On to Achieve Results!

ROAR (Rock On to Achieve Results) is a voluntary support program that has been an integral part of TVCS’ success with helping students achieve academically. The ROAR program has undergone restructuring this school year in order to align more with tiered intervention processes in the RtI (Response to Intervention) model. The focus is to support students through targeted interventions in order for them to become proficient in the common core state standards. Currently ROAR is offered to students in grades kindergarten through fifth.

The targeted interventions sessions focus on Math and English Language Arts and typically last between 4-6 weeks. Students considered eligible to participate in ROAR are those who score 65% or below on a given assessment. The focus is on the students' ability to demonstrate proficiency on the common core state standard assessed. Once the student is proficient in the standard he/she can be exited from the session. ROAR sessions are intended to be fluid and flexible so that there are opportunities for more students to participate.

In order to refer a student to the ROAR program there must be a demonstrated need based on assessment. The ROAR Intervention Specialist takes the data from the assessment results in order to tailor the intervention to the identified need. Each specialist can accommodate up to five students at a time in a session.

It is TVCS' belief that all students have the ability to achieve academically and early intervention in a multi-tiered model can enhance that achievement. The ROAR program provides high-quality instruction and intervention in a small group setting, for a specified amount of time, and is matched to the identified needs. In collaboration with your child’s classroom teacher, progress is monitored frequently, and student data is applied to form important educational decisions. As students make progress toward proficiency they can be exited from the program.

The ROAR team is excited to work with students and help them grow as learners. If you have any questions about the program please talk with your student’s teacher.
