Process of Referral

-All concerns (parent or teacher) will typically be handled through the SST process. Even if a student is not responding to interventions, a follow-up SST/meeting should be scheduled in order to discuss going forward with an assessment.


-Typically, special education staff does not attend SST meetings unless requested by staff or parents. However, IEP team members will attend meetings as needed…


-If a parent makes a request for assessment (verbally or in writing), the administrator and special education staff needs to be notified immediately in order to determine the course of action.


-Once any referral is made, the administrator and special education team needs to be notified immediately, as well as receive documentation of SST meeting notes/intervention etc.
