Happy Friday!
This week has flown by and students are now prepping for their assessment on the first 50 years of our Republic. This week students were able to show their expertise in their assigned President of the United States. Students were scored on clear and accurate information, volume, intonation, enunciation, eye contact, body language, and fluency. As students were presenting others took notes on a comparison matrix.
Later in the week we discussed the essential questions of the unit and spent time studying the key vocabulary in the unit. This Monday students will be having their language of the discipline part of their assessment which will be work 75 points. Students will identify words that are closely tied to the standards under study. Including: the first 7 presidents of the United States, the Louisiana Purchase, War of 1812, Monroe Doctrine, Missouri Compromise, and the Indian Removal acts
On Tuesday and Wednesday students will be reaching towards the level A by participating in fishbowl Socratic seminar discussing the following questions:
1. What was the largest conflict that had to be resolved in America's first 50 years?
2. Which of the 7 presidents had the longest lasting affect on the United States?
3. What problems does a nation face when it attempts to remain neutral in international conflict?
4. Did the first 50 years of our government under the Constitution establish the kind of country we would continue to be?
In order to participate in the Socratic seminar students will need to have their graphic organizer COMPLETED.
What students should be working on this weekend:
-Studying their language of the discipline (flash cards, Quizlet, or their language of the discipline sheet)
-Completing their graphic organizer on the essential questions
-Optional: There will be a study session on Google Classroom from 2:30 to 3:00 PM on Sunday
-SHOWING YOU and having you sign their 9 weeks progress report :-))
Thank you for the support,
Ms. Bronicki
